USDA Report Reaction and Highlights
Thursday, December 10th, 2009
The USDA’s report this morning was broadly bearish for corn, wheat and soybeans. The main findings were a slightly higher-than-anticipated US soybean ending stocks total, a higher US corn ending stocks total, and a continuing build in US wheat stocks. At the World level, wheat stocks climbed also, but showed small decreases in corn and soybeans. Given that US and World production of soybeans is anticipated to rise in the months ahead (due to final production numbers for the US crop and conducive growing conditions so far in S. America), the overall soybean story appears set to continue to deteriorate which should pressure prices. Opening calls are are: Mar corn 1-3 lower, Jan beans flat to 2 cents up, Mar wheat seen 2-3 cents down. Please click here for the main tables from today’s report.
